Your videos never leave your device
ClipCaptioner processes everything in your browser — editing, transcription, and rendering all run on your device. We do not upload, store, or view your footage, and your media is never sent to our servers.
What is stored on your device
Project timelines, captions and settings are stored locally in your browser (localStorage) so you can reopen them later. Clearing your browser data deletes this information permanently. ClipCaptioner accounts are arriving in a later release; until then there is no account database and nothing about you is stored off your device. Sign-in on this site is optional and is never required to edit or export.
Editor components loaded from the internet
Some editor components — such as caption styles, transcription models and media libraries — load from public content-delivery networks when you open the editor. Those networks receive your IP address and browser details as part of serving the files, the same as loading any web page.
Advertising — Google AdSense
ClipCaptioner is supported by advertising served through Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info. Blocking or deleting cookies in your browser settings will not stop ads from appearing, but they will no longer be personalized using those cookies — and the editor will keep working.
Analytics
The editor includes no third-party analytics or tracking scripts. If that ever changes, this policy will be updated first and the change described here.
Children
ClipCaptioner is a general-audience creative tool. It is not directed at children under 13, and because projects stay on your own device, we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date at the top.
